Scooter’s Coffee, a drive-thru coffee franchise based in Bellevue, Neb., will open its first Huntsville location at 700 Governors Drive SW. The new site, owned and operated by Cole and Emily Harris, will open in April 2022, offering high-quality coffee drinks, smoothies, teas, and a traditional breakfast menu.

“Scooter’s Coffee opened its first location in 1998 and has grown tremendously over the last few decades,” said Cole. “It’s one of the fastest-growing franchises in the country and continues to jump in rank each year. The brand’s quality and speedy service were exactly what we were looking for, and we are thrilled to bring it to the Rocket City.”

According to Scooter’s, it only roasts coffee from the top 10 percent of specialty coffee beans in the world—sourced from Costa Rica and tested for excellence. The name “Scooter’s” comes from the company’s mission to keep customers happy by helping them “scoot in and scoot out” with their perfect coffee quickly. Its goal is for guests to order and receive their beverage within 40 seconds, a deadline they always strive to meet.

“The majority of Scooter’s are drive-thru only and our Governors Drive site will be no different,” said Emily. “Our guests will be able to make a quick pit-stop at Scooter’s to grab a delicious coffee, smoothie, or breakfast item all without missing a morning meeting or appointment.”

After years of researching potential franchise concepts, Cole and Emily had yet to find one that fit their needs. They investigated several industries but immediately settled on coffee. Scooter’s proved to be the most appealing for the ownership team because of its mission to connect with coffee farmers directly, support franchise owners, and desire to build relationships with its team members.

Owners chose the new location because of its high visibility from Memorial Parkway and the amount of traffic that passes daily. They believe it will be a convenient site for guests from all areas of Huntsville to enjoy. As part of the growing medical district, it is close to Huntsville Hospital, Twickenham Square, and the Artisan Apartments. Its menu will include a wide variety of hot and cold coffee drinks, smoothies, teas, pastries, breakfast items, and even a healthy menu featuring “skinny” options.

“We have lots of incredible choices when it comes to coffee,” assured Emily. “Scooter’s will serve a coffee flavor-of-the-day as well as seasonal items. Our most popular drink is the Caramelicious—a sweet treat made with caramel sauce, frothy hot milk, and our signature espresso. It’s all topped off with whipped cream and drizzled with more caramel. Everyone goes crazy for it.”

The drive-thru coffee concept is fast approaching 400 locations nationwide with several more in the making. Emily said they plan to open additional spots in Huntsville after the one on Governors Drive is established.

“I am originally from Huntsville, and I’ve had a front-row seat as new creative concepts have entered the market,” said Emily. “We believe the city will embrace Scooter’s—especially with it being so close to medical facilities, apartments, and retail centers. The franchise has been successful in every market it has entered. We can’t wait to welcome customers next year.”

Crunkleton Commercial Real Estate’s Founder & Principal, Wesley Crunkleton, CPM, and its Vice President of Retail, Anusha Alapati Davis, helped Scooter’s Coffee secure the new site, and they believe the company will thrive in the medical district. The Crunkleton team is also representing the Scooter’s brand and helping them secure sites throughout Alabama.

“It is always exciting to work with owners who are bringing a new concept to the area,” said Anusha. “Emily and Cole are passionate about Scooter’s, and they will give the city another quick and delicious option for coffee and breakfast. I know Huntsville will enjoy the product and service that Scooter’s has to offer. We wish them the best of luck and look forward to supporting them.”

When they open, tentative hours at Scooter’s on Governors Drive will be 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. For more information on Scooter’s Coffee, visit www.scooterscoffee.com. You can follow the coffee kiosk on Facebook and Instagram.
