A major milestone has been reached in North Huntsville with IMS Communities securing construction financing for North Valley, including Beacon Place, the first residential phase within the larger North Valley master-planned development. Construction is expected to begin in June 2025, introducing a new housing product that blends quality, convenience, and forward-thinking design.

Crunkleton Commercial Real Estate’s Vice President, Eric St. John, played an integral role in the project’s foundation, assisting IMS Communities in acquiring approximately 130 acres of prime land from the UAH Foundation in 2023. The transaction laid the groundwork for what will be a transformative development for the North Huntsville submarket.

A New Residential Option for North Huntsville

Beacon Place North Valley will feature one-story apartment homes with private garages and EV charging stations at every unit—a signature design IMS has implemented across 10 successful communities throughout the Southeast. This marks their 11th development, expanding a portfolio that already includes over 2,500 units and $500 million in investment.

The new residential offering adds a unique product type to Huntsville’s robust multifamily market, catering to residents who value the convenience of single-level living, energy efficiency, and modern amenities.

In addition to residential construction, the broader North Valley development will include commercial outparcels at the intersection of Highway 53 and Blake Bottom Road—a highly trafficked corridor with strong long-term growth potential. IMS is actively seeking partnerships with big-box retailers, as well as regional and national brands, to create a complementary retail environment.
