IMS Development, a Tuscaloosa-based real estate development firm specializing in multi-family projects, is thrilled to announce the acquisition of approximately 130 acres of prime land in North Huntsville, Ala. purchased from The University of Alabama in Huntsville Foundation. The project, named North Valley, will add 800 residential units to the area—a mix of low and high-density housing—and more than 20 acres of commercial land for development. North Valley will be completed in phases with the goal of creating a conveniently located suburban haven.
The development’s location at the corner of Highway 255, Highway 53, and Blake Bottom Road makes it a sought-after site for both residents and businesses. The project’s 20 acres of commercial land presents an exciting prospect for big box retailers, hotels, restaurants, convenience stores, and entertainment establishments to make an impact in an up-and-coming area of the Rocket City.
“This acquisition is an exciting venture for our firm,” said H. Jackson Wallace, President, and COO-Development at IMS. “North Valley is not just a development project; it’s an opportunity to create a thriving community that provides residents with an unparalleled living experience while contributing to the growth and prosperity of North Huntsville.”
The strategic location of North Valley gives it easy access to downtown Huntsville, the MidCity district, and the Village of Providence, offering residents the best of both worlds—city amenities and the comfort of a relaxed, suburban lifestyle. Additionally, the site is situated within Huntsville’s education corridor, home to prestigious universities and institutions such as Alabama A&M, Oakwood University, and the University of Alabama in Huntsville, serving a combined student population of 16,740.
“The decision to invest in the Huntsville market was driven by its impressive growth and economic diversity,” said Greg Wood, President, and COO-Management at IMS. “We saw an area of the city that was underserved and believed we could create a project that would enhance the area and introduce new commercial ventures. There are a lot of possibilities that the commercial lots can accommodate, and we are excited to hear from interested parties.”
North Valley is situated within easy commuting distance to Cummings Research Park and Redstone Arsenal, two of the city’s major employment hubs. It is also near the upcoming Northern Bypass that will eventually connect Highway 53 to Highway 72 near Gurley, Ala.
Crunkleton Commercial Real Estate’s Vice President Eric St. John, CCIM, assisted IMS Development with the acquisition. “We are honored to help bring IMS Development’s expertise to the area,” said Eric St. John. “North Valley will elevate the quality of life for its residents and present exciting opportunities for commercial ventures.”
