In the Rocket City, we engineer some of the most delectable and flavorful food in the state of Alabama. And each year, we celebrate our culinary community by serving up several days of tasty deals at many of the restaurants in the Huntsville/Madison area. Foodies from far and wide are invited to sip, savor, and indulge at our many eateries—we have plenty to go around!

Huntsville Restaurant Week

August 9-18, 2019

We see more talented restauranteurs and unique concepts opening up in our food-loving city each year. Our restaurant scene is always growing in diversity, putting us on the map as a must-visit destination for anyone who loves authentic, one-of-a-kind fare.

Whether you’re looking for bacon-packed burgers and fries or gluten-free goodies, we have something for everyone to enjoy. There are also tons to choose from when it comes to types of cuisine. Italian, Tex-Mex, Japanese, German, Southern, Mediterranean—we’ve got it all and we do it well!

What better way to celebrate than by hopping from café to restaurant and eatery to bakeshop to sample a little bit of everything the Rocket City has to offer?

At Crunkleton, we are honored to say that we have worked with several of the participating restaurants. In fact, we visited a few this past week to get a sneak peek of what they will be serving for Huntsville Restaurant Week 2019!

How do you know which restaurants are participating?

You can view all of the participating restaurants and their specials by visiting https://www.huntsville.org/events/restaurant-week/! Scroll down the page and search by keyword or region so you can plan your perfect outing.

What kinds of deals can you get?

During the celebration, participating eateries will offer 2-course lunches at $10 or $15 and/or 3-course dinners at $10, $20, $30, or $40. There’s also a Bonus Bites category for restaurants who do not serve full meals. Bonus Bites can be set at $5, $10, or $15.

Purveyor

Grab your friends and head over to Purveyor in downtown Huntsville for an evening you won’t soon forget. Located on the ground floor of The Avenue apartments on Jefferson Street, Purveyor offers a relaxing ambiance and cuisine that even gained the attention of Oprah’s network.

This year, Purveyor will dish out two $40 dinner options:

OPTION ONE

Course 1: Brussels Caesar Salad

Course 2: Appetizer

Course 3: Entree: Prawns & Grits OR Course 3: Entree: The Opulent

OPTION TWO

Course 1: Summer Salad

Course 2: Entree: Pork Chop OR Course 2: Entree: The Opulent

Course 3: Dessert: Cheesecake

We were able to sample “The Opulent” on our visit and it was out of this world! The incredible burger features an elk and venison patty, Korean barbecue bacon, tetilla cheese, elderberry tomato jelly onions, butter lettuce, and aji Amarillo aioli on a brioche bun with a side of thick-cut parmesan and garlic house fries.

And, for dessert, we enjoyed a light and fluffy cheesecake topped with seasonal fruit like strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries.

The Dessert Fork

What meal is complete without a rich, creamy dessert? That’s why we visited this Madison-based bakery off Highway 72. The Dessert Fork, owned and operated by master cake artist Pauline McFarlin, is like a trip to your grandmother’s kitchen. And this year, they will be part of the Bonus Bites category by offering $5 dessert trios and duos.

This made-from-scratch bakeshop is keeping things interesting by preparing a new special each day! Here’s the breakdown:

  • Friday, August 9th– Mini Chocolate Cake, French Macaron
  • Saturday, August 10th– Lemon Bar, Cherry Balsamic Brownie, Mexican Wedding Cookie
  • Monday, August 12th– Red Velvet Cupcake and Mini Pecan Pie/or a Cinnamon Roll
  • Tuesday, August 13th– Earl Grey Tea Cookie, Chai Latte Panna Cotta, Lemon Cake
  • Wednesday, August 14th– Bailey’s Chocolate Caramel Tart, Chocolate Panna Cotta
  • Thursday, August 15th– Turtle Cheesecake and Strawberry Cupcake
  • Friday, August 16th– Coconut Cream Pie, Strawberry Thumbprint Cookies
  • Saturday, August 17th– Chocolate Cream Pie, Strawberry Panna Cotta

You can rest assured that the fresh-out-of-the-oven treats at The Dessert Fork will bring feelings of nostalgia and comfort—taking you back to a simpler time. It’s okay to eat your dessert first!

Fresko Grille

Fresko Grille was the first restaurant to open at the Stovehouse development on Governors Drive. As part of its Food & Leisure Garden, Fresko delivers authentic Mediterranean fare in the form of bowls and wraps packed with traditional ingredients like rice, falafels, lentils, chicken, beef, hummus, and much more!

Chef Abrahim Hassan takes great pride in using the freshest ingredients possible prepared with traditional methods he learned from his father and grandfather. Since its opening, it has been getting rave reviews.

For Huntsville Restaurant Week, Fresko Grille has prepared a lunch/dinner special that includes an entrée of Shawarma Delight with your choice of beef or chicken. The meat comes on a warm bed of hummus topped with tomatoes, onions, and tahini sauce with a side of pita bread. You also get an appetizer portion of tasty Tabouli Salad!

Clyde’s BBQ

We recently announced that Clyde’s BBQ would be opening its second location at the Stovehouse Food & Leisure Garden later this year. But you don’t have to wait until then to try them out!

Located on County Line Road in Madison, Clyde’s has some exciting things in its smoker for Restaurant Week. If you visit during lunch, you can bite into a $10 brisket sandwich, kettle chips, and drink. For dinner, they will be serving a $15 brisket plate with a choice of two sides, a smoked chocolate chip cookie, and a large drink.

Curious about the sides? Choose from smoked mac and cheese, BBQ beans, slaw, potato salad, collard greens, green beans, kettle chips, and pork skins! And yes, we said SMOKED chocolate chip cookies. That’s because Clyde’s cookies are “baked” in the smoker to give them an extra kick of flavor. Yum!

Mason Dixon Bakery

You may have noticed that this year’s Huntsville Restaurant Week promotional items all have an image of Mason Dixon’s special from last year—the Meatloaf Melt Sandwich. This year, they are upping the ante even more with some new scrumptious creations!

In what they are describing as an “inventive take on a hot chicken sandwich”, Mason Dixon’s new Tokyo Hot Chicken Sandwich is packed with Japanese-inspired flavor, spicy mustard, shishito pepper slaw, and thinly sliced pickles.

If you want something on the lighter side, you can also choose their new Summer Salad with Gulf shrimp, local peaches from Scott’s Orchard, Double Eagle Farms tomatoes, pickled mustard seeds, and avocado-cilantro vinaigrette.

Both of these options are $15 and come with your choice of cupcake!

Remember, this is a VERY small sampling of everything that’s available for Huntsville Restaurant Week 2019! You can view the full list of participants and specials HERE.
