April has been an exciting month! A few eagerly awaited businesses have opened to the public and construction crews are making plenty of progress at other soon-to-open spaces.
As promised, here are a few updates we’ve collected on developing projects and store openings:
Things are moving along quickly at the upcoming Melt restaurant space. The construction team has been busy building the bones of the eatery and it’s starting to take shape. It’s expected that Melt will open later this year in early July.
Melt’s newest location will serve the same classic comfort food with a modern twist that made its Avondale spot so popular. Guests can also enjoy a full bar offering cocktails, local Huntsville beers, wine, and liquor.
Melt – Huntsville is now on Instagram and you can follow them for future updates @melthsv!
Warmer weather is around the corner, and we highly suggest giving Rita’s a try. Our office loves trips to the dessert shop for Blendinis and Gelatis—two of our favorites on the menu. There are also several flavors of Italian ice, soft-serve custard, milkshakes, hand-scooped custard, and custard cakes to choose from.
They even have sugar-free options, so there is definitely something for the whole family. And don’t forget about your coworkers and special events! Rita’s offers catering for picnics, birthdays, and corporate events too.
Be sure to give them a follow on Facebookto show support and see what flavors you can try next.
The Moon Bakeshop—Now Open In Downtown Huntsville
When The Moon Bakeshopquietly announced that its doors would be open for a delicious preview of select menu items, people came flooding in to grab a cookie, scone, or savory egg muffin.
Since its soft opening on April 1st, the bakery has quickly gained a loyal following that can’t wait to grab a coffee and morning breakfast sandwich. (Which, by the way, is a scrumptious tower of house-made focaccia bread, egg soufflé, Colby jack cheese, Dukes & Dijon spread, and bacon jam!)
Expect a cozy, inviting atmosphere with comfy armchairs and seating by the window so you can enjoy the sunshine as you sip a cappuccino.
Check out The Moon Bakeshop on Instagramand Facebookto stay up-to-date on their menu and current hours.

We’ve already announced several of the tenants that will be joining the development and their projected opening dates:
Once each year, the Rocket City celebrates its culinary diversity, award-winning dishes, and local flavor with a 10-day event known as Huntsville Restaurant Week. 2020 is no different. In fact, this year will be the largest promotion to date with more restaurants participating than ever before. This means there are endless opportunities to explore our food scene while enjoying discounts, deals, and giveaways!
After 25 years in the corporate world serving as an accountant, Teresa Brodie had to decide what to do next. Keeping her current position would mean moving to St. Louis, Missouri—something she knew she didn’t want. Teresa is an only child and wanted to stay close to her parents in Athens. That’s when she says God stepped in to choose for her. She would leave her desk job behind and purchase a gift shop in Athens, Alabama. That shop was called Pimentos.
