(Athens-based aerospace engineering firm opens office at historic mixed-use development on Governors Drive.)
Stovehouse Properties and Crunkleton Commercial Real Estate are proud to announce that Onyx Aerospace has joined Stovehouse in a 2,058 square foot open-air office space. A company specializing in aerospace engineering services, Onyx provides expertise in program management, missile, launch and space system support, propulsion systems and much more. Stovehouse will be the firm’s second location with its headquarters located in Athens, Ala.
“Stovehouse is a vibrant destination that has given us the freedom and flexibility we were looking for,” said Steve Hanna, president of Onyx Aerospace. “During our first few months at the development, we found that our team was able to bring ideas to the table faster and get the job done more efficiently. Environment plays an important role when it comes to productivity, and Stovehouse offers a unique work/play setting with food options, entertainment and fresh air when you need to step away from the desk.”
After years of serving Huntsville via its Athens location, Onyx searched for a way to meet its clients’ needs by expanding to the Rocket City. Stovehouse instantly stood out to the team because of its location and mission to grow the West Huntsville area. In February, the HUBZone aerospace engineering firm moved into its office on Governors Drive.
“Onyx has a heavy customer base at Redstone Arsenal and Cummings Research Park,” said Hanna. “Stovehouse is central to our clientele and provides multiple access points to major highways and Huntsville hot spots. But, beyond that, the development has a goal of enhancing the West Huntsville area—that’s a mission we support. We’re a HUBZone company, and we are always looking for ways to encourage the growth of HUBZone neighborhoods.”
Onyx handles a breadth of work across the aerospace engineering lexicon from space station support to missile defense and mentoring the next generation of engineers. With clients such as NASA, Boeing, the National Defense University and others, Onyx has a hand in multiple high-profile engineering projects across the country.
“From the beginning, Stovehouse has been clear in its mission to boost West Huntsville by introducing passionate and inventive businesses to the area,” said Stovehouse Properties Owner/Developer, Danny Yancey. “Onyx immediately got behind the project and they have fully embraced the creative atmosphere we’ve cultivated. We look forward to supporting them as they expand their footprint in Huntsville.”
In addition to its Huntsville and Athens locations, Onyx works frequently within the Florida Space Coast and other rocket testing facilities.
“Stovehouse goes beyond providing the basic needs for a workforce,” said Wesley Crunkleton, principal at Crunkleton Commercial Real Estate. “Employees living within the Huntsville area value short commute times and recognize the benefits of working in energetic work/play environments. Onyx was looking to be part of a larger project where they could create efficient engineering solutions by day and unwind after work. Stovehouse was a perfect fit.”
